Grace was born December 7, 1918, in Doylestown the daughter of the Arthur C. and Christina S. (Cutter) McCartney.
Grace attended Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing where she aqquired her RN. She worked at that hospital and she retired from Union Drawn where she had worked for 35 years.
Grace married Alvin Ertle who proceeded her in death. They had three boys Thomas D. Ertle, John E. Ertle, Joseph P. Ertle all of Missillon,Ohio.
Grace was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Massillon.
