Son of Dr. William Bucknill and Elizabeth Jeffrey Iliffe who were married on the 24th August 1809 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. William was a Surgeon

The Rev. was baptized on the 7th November 1810 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Rev. Bucknill was a pupil at Rugby School, in Rugby, Warwickshire. He entered Trinity College, Cambridge, aged 19 in 1829 where he attained a B.A., in 1834.

Ordained a Deacon in 1835 and a ordained a priest in 1836 at Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Rev. Bucknill married Jane Davies on the 18th June 1835 in Coleshill, Warwickshire.

1835 - 1837 Rev. Bucknill was Curate of St James Church, Bulkington, Warwickshire.
He officiated at the baptism of his daughter, Elizabeth, in 1836, at St James, Bulkington.

1837 - 1843 Curate of All Saints, Harborough Magna, Nr Rugby, Warwickshire.

1840 - Rev. Bucknill's infant son William died.

1861 Census - Rev. Bucknill and his family were living in Peacock Lane, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. He was Headmaster of King Edward's School (also known as Nuneaton Grammar School), Nuneaton (pictured left). He was also the Rector of Stretton Baskerville, Warwickshire.

1867 - Son William Charles, a Surgeon, committed suicide at the age of 23.

1871 Census - Rev. Bucknill was Vicar of St Botolph's, Burton Hastings and Rector of Stretton Baskerville, Warwickshire. He and his family were living in the Grammar School House, Nuneaton.

The Will of the Reverend William Samuel Bucknill, late of Nuneaton, in the County of Warwick, Clerk, who died 2nd February 1873 at Nuneaton, was proved at the Principal Registry by the Reverend John Morton, of Leamington Priors, in the said County, Clerk, the surviving Executor.

Resting with son William who died aged 23.
Wife Jane died in 1892 in Lincolnshire.

Daughters Elizabeth and Louisa, both spinsters, died in Lincolnshire.

Daughter Adelaide, married Rev. Edgar Wharton, in Lincoln in 1881. There were no children from the marriage. After 1911, Adelaide's sisters lived with her and her husband at St Faith's Vicarage.
Adelaide died in Lincoln in 1915.

Rev. Edgar Wharton later became Canon of Lincoln Cathedral. He died in Scarborough, Yorkshire, in 1936 aged approx 91.
