Broken Hip Proves Fatal To Le Roy Ex-Businessman --- Le Roy --- Abraham Van Valkenburgh, former Le Roy business business man and farmer, died Wednesday in a hospital at Wyne-wood, a suburb o Philadelphia, Pa. A fractured hip suffered in a fall three weeks ago hastened his death. --- He was the youngest child of a Abraham H. and Deborah Craft Van Valkenburgh and was born near Lyons, Aug. 2, 1847. He passed his early life in Lyons and when 25 went to Barkerville, British British Columbia, engaging with his older brothers in the "meat and cattle business. He spent considerable considerable time in the British Columbia gold mining district and for 10 years, 1898-1908, was at Dawson, participating in the Klondike gold rush. --- Other years of his life included farming in Le Roy and several years in the meat business here with the late Ernest Townsend. In 1909 he engaged in the fruit growing growing in Wenatchee, Wash., with his older son, and since 1932 had resided resided with his other son in Philadelphia. Philadelphia. --- He had been a member of the Masonic fraternity 69 years, having joined the Lyons Lodge in August 1871. During their residence in Le Roy the family was connected with the Presbyterian Church. --- On Apr. 25, 1875, he married Miss Eudora E. Burton of Lyons who died in Wenatchee Nov. 2, 1927. Mr. Van Valkenburg, is survived by two sons, Isaac A. of Wenatchee, and Robert of Philadelphia. --- The body will arrive in Le Roy tomorrow morning. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev.
