Mr. Jackson was employed as a machinist for Ridge Tool, Elyria for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army 26th Infantry Division during WWII, and was a life member of the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871. He was a charter member of the WW II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, North Ridgeville and a former member of Trinity Congregational United Church of Christ, Winterhaven, Florida.
He enjoyed gardening and farming the 60 acres of land at his home in North Ridgeville.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Betty (nee Robinson); daughter, Sandy Gast (Richard) of Sheffield; sons, Thomas (Lois) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Phillip (Marilyn) of Somerville, Tennessee, Richard (Cheri) of Brighton, Colorado and Kenneth (Linda) of Endwell, New York; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Henry Jackson; brother, Wayne Jackson; and sisters, Ellen and Ruth Menges.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday. Rev. John Fairweather, Pastor of First Congregational Church of Christ, North Ridgeville, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
