The age of Laura Stains in the 1860 US Census, matches Laura D Stains, heir (child) of John Stains in the quoted 1870 Newspaper clipping. Why Laura lived with John in 1860, while John's wife Mary lived in Kansas with her father, Thomas S. Stains and their youngest son Thomas (aged 1) is a mystery. Laura is Find a Grave #128536482.

2. The 1869 Probate of William B Stains, says his sibling was "Sarah Stains". That matches her to Sarah, with husband Sabert Stains in the Newspaper clipping. She is Find a Grave #13146515

Living with him was John Stains (son), age 35, Daniel Stains (son), age 23, Laura (This may be Lavina) Leach (daughter), Reuben Leach (son-in-law), age 28, Julia A Stains, age 14, W Machalroy, age 24, Laura Stains, age 4.

Regarding Aarons death date...Aaron Stains Sr. and his wife Julia Ann were listed on the 1880 census for Brookfield, Linn, Missouri. Aaron was 75 and Julia was 71. Katie Stewart and Rebecca Deardurff were living with them at the time. These are their grand daughters.
