Calvin August Kolp, 87 of Atlanta, MI passed away on July 25, 2013 in Petoskey, surrounded by his family after a fall in his home.

He was born August 6, 1925 to August & Angeline Kolp. He married Carol Gay Tolliver on January 10, 1955 in Ohio.

Calvin served in the US Navy aboard the USS New Mexico during World War II. His ship sailed into Tokoyo Bay for the signing of the surrender of Japan, ending WW II. He lived on Gaylanta Lake since 1986, having a cottage there for over 30 years prior to that.

He was a member of the American Veterans in St. Clair Shores, MI, the American Legion in Spring Hill, FL., the Atlanta Eagles 4077, and the Lewiston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6335. He worked for 35 years for Michigan Bell as a PBX installer. Cal enjoyed traveling, fishing on Gaylanta Lake, hunting pheasant, rabbit, and deer. He was also an old car buff and was a "family man", truly enjoying time spent with his family.

Cal is survived by his wife, Carol Gay; sons, Cal (Casey) Kolp and David Kolp both of Macomb, MI; Grandchildren: David, Kristen, Deanna, & Jerry; One sister, Lyle Duadlin of Sterling Heights, MI. Three sisters-in-law: Helen Douglas, Mable Roberts, & Martha Wininger, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August & Angeline, a brother, Kenneth and one brother-in-law, Lester Tolliver and one sister-in-law, AnnaLee Wilde Addison.
