Hazleton Standard-Speaker, February 12, 1968:
John Stauffenberg. Retired Bell, PP&L Lineman Died Sunday. John William Staufenberg, 83 North Church St., died at 12:50 pm Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital. He was ill two days and death resulted from complications. He was employed as a lineman for the Bell Telephone Company for 25 years and the P.P.&L. in the same position for the same number of years before retirement. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Frederick Stauffenberg. His mother's maiden name was Mary Sipple. Mr. Stauffenberg, who had resided in New York City for 20 years, lived most of his life in Hazleton. He was a former member of the Pioneer Fire Company.

Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Lannon; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Rose) Koplin, this city; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Kathryn Kramer, Philadelphia; George, Shamokin; Mrs. Gertrude Tanney, Springtown; Aaron, Irvington, N.J. and Mrs. John (Wilhelmina) Hasker, this city and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 pm from the Grebey, Beltz and Gleim Funeral Home, East Broad St., with the Rev. Allen H. Roth, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, this city, officiating.
