In 1949, she was presented with the opportunity to work as a secretary for Wyoming Senator, Joseph C. O'Mahoney, in Washington D.C. While there, she met and married the love of her life, J. A. Thomas Rathbone who died in 2014, having been married for almost 64 years.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in all auxiliaries but was particularly happy working with the children in Primary where she served as President for many years. She was active in her community and in Girl Scouts all her life. She received the Thanks Badge (the highest award in Girl Scouts) in 1975, for 28 years of service to girls and leaders. She loved baseball and her Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed doing genealogy as well as knitting sweaters and afghans for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 1pm in the Afton Wyoming LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held from Noon-12:45 prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Afton Cemetery.
