rev. allen was born between 1800-1805 in tennessee, the son of bethel allen and elizabeth d. reed.

he was at times an ordained minister of the platte presbytery and others, missouri synod.

he married nancy davis, daughter of matthew davis and elizabeth king, 13 jan 1831 in callaway co., mo.

"Note: Jesse R. Allen was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister who received his training at a seminary established by Rev. Finis Ewing, a co-founder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jesse became a ministerial candidate in in April 1834 and was licensed to preach by the New Lebanon Presbytery in November 1835. He served many different congregations and organized a number of new Cumberland Presbyterian churches in Northwest Missouri."
