Jake was the husband of Mary Katherine (Ham) and father to Georgia and Garnet J. He was a star athlete at Columbia Central High School before attending the US Naval Academy and graduating from Vanderbilt University. He was a Senior Policy Adviser in the White House Office of the Chief Technology Office. Jake was participating in a Cancer Charity Bicycle Race supporting a friend, and crossed a double yellow line and was struck by a vehicle. He is remembered as a man of great compassion and love for his beautiful family.Mr. Jake Brewer, husband of Miss Mary Katherine Ham, died in a bicycle accident for charity on September 20, 2015, and he leaves one daughter, Miss Georgia. Miss Ham is expecting her 2nd child.

Jacob Thomas Brewer, of Alexandria, VA, was a 21st century Renaissance man, a true polymath who made an indelible impression on everyone he met. Raised in Columbia, TN, he was a star athlete and actor at Columbia Central High School, before attending the U.S. Naval Academy and graduating from Vanderbilt University. For a decade, he built a career in Washington, DC that was unparalleled in the range of the issues it touched, from government accountability/transparency and immigration, to energy/the environment and veteran affairs. He was a senior technology adviser to Megan Smith, the chief technology officer at the White House. He died while doing what he'd always done - supporting a friend in a cancer charity ride.He is survived by his wife, Mary Katharine Brewer, his daughter, Georgia Brewer, his mother, Lori Collins, his stepfather, Craig Collins; his father, Tom Brewer, his stepmother, Kim Brewer; his sisters, Britt Reynolds and Chelsea Brewer; and his brother-in-law, Andrew Reynolds. He is anticipating the birth of a yet-to-be-born Baby Brewer. Memorial service to be held.
