Son of Jacob Prevett and Elizabeth "Betsy" Cook Prevett; husband of Permelia Fletcher Prevett; father of Jacob Enos Prevett, James Eli Prevette, and Noble Absalom Prevett. Absalom was a Baptist preacher and a school teacher.


He was buried in the old section of the cemetery at Grassy Knob Baptist Church.

Directly from the manuscript of that volume written by James Harry Prevette:

"Absalom Prevett born 1842, son of Jacob was a teacher and well educated. He spelled the name Prevett and on his school rolls this spelling was used on all his Prevett students, namely: A.N. Prevett in 1866, Moses Prevett Jr. in 1866, I.T. Prevett in 1866, J.E. Prevett in 1871, Engeline and Milas Prevett, no dates. All of Absalom's brothers used this spelling and his father Jacob remarried in 1878 and he used the name Prevett."
