Sources: Barron & Perdue By: Clara E. Perdue Newton, (Phoebe Mabry and John's granddaughter) 28 pages c.1940's located at Thomaston Upson Archives.
Marriage license from Jackson County, Georgia.
1. John and Phoebe nee Mabry were married on December 15, 1836 in Monroe County, Georgia. She is the mother of their 9 children per Clara's records. (I have seen other sources say 10 children) She passed away on March 27, 1859.
Her last child, Charles Mabry, was exactly one month old at the time of her death.
2. John then married his wife's favorite cousin, Phoebe M. SEAY, on February 22, 1860 in Jackson County, GA-page 441, This Phoebe's middle initial was M--which is easy to assume it means MABRY. This is the Phoebe on the 1860 and 1870 censuses with John.
3. He was married a third time. Her name is unk.
He was listed as divorced in the 1880 census.
UNCLE JOHN PERDUE DEAD
Barnesville, GA., Nov. 30--Early this morning Uncle John Perdue died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Willis some miles out from Barnesville. He has been in feeble health for the past year or two but about two weeks ago he was taken sick and has gradually grown weaker. Today the end came peacefully, and a good man fell asleep. He was a pioneer citizen and is well known to everybody throughout this section. He was over 80 years old and was highly esteemed by everybody who knew him.
