He was born July 4, 1949 in Hanover, the son of the late Harry and Edna (Trone) Sager.
Daniel graduated from Spring Grove High School and served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he graduated from the University of Alaska and served as a community school coordinator in Anchorage. He helped to establish the Hope Baptist Church, Hanover and Hope Christian School, Hanover where he was the gym teacher. He homeschooled his son Jacob and was very involved in his children’s sports. He would train so that he was able to cheer on his children and the other competitors at various points along the course during cross country events. Daniel had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and was very dedicated to his family and serving his church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Buddin and husband Jason, Greenville, SC; son, Jacob Sager and wife Alicia, Pineville, NC; sister, Gladys Doncaster, Sierra Vista, AZ and grandchildren, Nathan, Daniel, Hailey, Ava, Abigail, Alyssa and one more on the way.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11 AM at Jefferson Cemetery, Baltimore Street, Jefferson, PA with Pastor Allen Harris officiating. Full Military Honors will be rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a memorial service at 7 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Hope Baptist Church, 6450 Hope Way, Hanover. The family will receive friends and share memories from 6 PM until the time of the service at the church.
