Sarah B. Hege Ayers, 89, died unexpectedly at 6:20 PM Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1989, in Major Hospital, Shelbyville, where she had been a patient the past few days. Born July 23, 1900, in Tippecanoe County, she spent most of her life here. She was married Dec. 26, 1923, at Lafayette, to Col. Howard Ayres; he died April 19, 1986.
Mrs. Ayers was a member of Lafayette Chapter, Delta Theta Tau sorority. She was also involved with Lafayette Home Hospital teas and Tippecanoe County Republican organizations.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Michael) Gallucci of Los Angeles, CA; a son, Howard Ayers, Jr. of Shelbyville; a sister, Mary M. Pottlitzer of Highland; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John, in 1986; and two sisters.
