Mrs. Phoebe McClain, wife of Jacob McClain, after a long illness died last Friday evening at her home on East King street. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. G. M. Smith.
Mrs. McClain was seventy-nine years of age and was a native of Kentucky. She was married to Jacob McClain in 1849 and to them three children were born, Mary Palmer of Indianapolis and J.A. McClain of Kansas surviving.
She had been a member of the Methodist church for years and was a very faithful member.

Mrs. Jacob McClain died Friday evening at 5 o'clock at her home on East King street. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. G. M. Smith assisted by Rev. J. M. Duncan, presiding elder, of Indianapolis.
Deceased was born in Trimble county, Ky., March 10, 1818. She was joined in marriage to Jacob McClain, Feb. 9, 1849. Two children survive, Mrs. Mary Palmer, who lives in Kansas, and John A. McClain of Indianapolis.
