Elsie June Beck, 98, formerly of Berwick, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Fritzingertown Senior Living Center, Drums, where she had resided for the last four years. Born in Berwick on June 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Gross) Drothler. She graduated from Berwick High School and Potts Business College, Williamsport, in 1935.
Elsie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years and sang in the choir. She enjoyed taking care of her family, and performing the tasks of being a wife and mother, such as mending clothes and darning socks, as well as cooking and baking, especially homemade bread.
She was married for 67 years to Harold F. Beck, who passed away on May 29, 2011. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Fred, Carl and Earl Drothler; and sister, Pauline Deibler.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters: B. Beck Dows, Berwick; Sharon Slowick, wife of Jerry, Berwick; son Harold F. Beck II, husband of Pat, Berwick; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Bette Keller, Harrisburg; and Jean Dimeler, Warner Robins, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick, with the Rev. Chad Hebrink officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
