Haydee Millet Van Manen

Haydee Millet Van Manen, 92, died on September 11, 2015 after a long and active life. Haydee was born at home in Mt. Airy, St. John The Baptist Parish, Louisiana on June 12 1923.

She was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Anna Millet (Laiche), her husband of 70 years, Milton H. Van Manen, two brothers, Felix and Harold Millet and four sisters, May Le Blanc, Grace Peytavin, Lynda Rouillier and Pearl Peytavin;

Survived by four children, Gwen Ledoux and husband Will from Georgetown Tx, Bill Van Manen and wife Laura from Richmond Va., Stephen Van Manen and wife Patti from Victoria Tx, James Van Manen and wife Marsha from League City Tx.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren and Bob and Judy Ware among many friends.

Haydee was a devoted wife and mother, a founding member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Eucharistic Minister. She loved to travel and was awed by the sights in Vatican City. She also loved her Houston Astros.

Haydee, was an amazing cook and excelled in her native Louisiana French Creole style. Most memorable was when she broke from style and made Hummingbird cake or coconut creme pie.
Special thanks to Donna Howell with White Oaks personal care facility and her staff in Victoria Tx. for their kind and compassionate care in her waning years of life.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers with great grandchildren as honorary pallbearers.

Donations can be made to St Mary Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.

Services will include a Rosary at Crowder Funeral Home, Webster Tx 7:00PM, Friday Sept 18th, and a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM September 19th at St. Mary Church in League City Tx followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Tx.
