Lowell E. Planalp, 75, Oregon, Mo., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at a St. Joseph, MO., hospital.

Mr. Planalp worked for the United States Postal Service office in Oregon from 1949 to 1974. He served as postmaster from 1967 to 1974. He was a meter reader and worked at the plant of the Oregon City Water Department until retiring.

Born in Oregon on Dec. 20, 1925, he was a lifelong resident of that area. He was a graduate of the Oregon High School and served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946.

Mr. Planalp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and deacon; and Harris E. Petree American Legion Post, both of Oregon.

On Dec. 7, 1945, he married Eileen E. McAfee in Troy, Kan. She survives of the home.

Mr. Planalp was preceded in death by his mother, Irene, and two brothers, Jack and Roger.

Additional survivors: two sons, Don, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Eric, Oregon; two daughter, Susan Planalp, Astoria, Oreg., and Sally Planalp, Missoula, Mont.; his father, Everett, St. Joseph; and four grandchildren.

Burial: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Mo.
