Geneva Emily Shortt, 92, died peacefully at her West Rumney, NH home on May 1, 2015.
She was born November 4, 1922 in Wentworth, NH to Harry and Lura Simpson. On October 20, 1946 she wed Aaron W. Shortt and they had two children. Geneva and Aaron owned Shortt’s Garage in West Rumney for 58 years. She was often seen in the office and pumping gas at the garage. They retired in 2004.

She was a member of the Rumney Fire Department Lady’s Auxiliary for many years. Geneva enjoyed helping others and raising funds for the fire department and other organizations. She also was active in the Mt Moosilauke Chapter # 68 Order of Eastern Star, Shriners Provost Guard Ladies and TOPS # 25 in Plymouth, NH.

She will be missed by her family and friends. She and Aaron were always willing to help people.

Her parents, 9 siblings and husband predeceased her.

Family members include a daughter, Pat and her husband, Dan, of Standish, ME, a son, Bill and his wife, Chardell, of Rumney, NH; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Seace of Lisbon and many nieces and nephews.
