William Brown Prescott was a great, great grandson of Colonel William Prescott who commanded the American troops at the Battle of Bunker Hill. (The New York Times article about the wedding of William Brown Prescott and Margery Ficken in 1915 incorrectly states that he was the great grandson of Colonel Prescott.)

In 1919 and 1920 William traveled to Peru where he worked as a cotton buyer employed by Mr. Arthur E. Rall of New York.

The marriage of William Brown Prescott and Margery Ficken ended in divorce. William remarried. The name of his second wife is unknown.
