George Perry Farmer of Birmingham, Alabama, born July 11, 1928 in Greenville, South Carolina, passed from this life on September 10, 2015. Mr. Farmer was a former member of Green Valley Baptist Church and a current member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church where he was involved in various senior activities. Most notably he was a member of the SonShine Singers for several years.
After retiring as a District Manager from Prudential Insurance Company, Mr. Farmer was instrumental in establishing the Hoover Library. He was appointed to the first Library Board in 1983, and later named Chairman of the board, where he served actively until his health began to fail. He continued as Chairman Emeritus until his death.

Visitation was Saturday, September 12 with Memorial Services following at 1 pm at Southern Heritage. Dr. Cecil Sewell officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hoover Library.
