Donald W. Hosch, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015. Don was born and grew up in New Albin, IA. He married Evelyn Schmitt on June 26, 1950. He served in the U.S. Army 27th Infantry in WWII in the Pacific theater and during the occupation of Japan. Following his military service, Don attended The Chicago School of Watchmaking and was a watchmaker and jeweler, residing in Charles City, IA for several years. In 1971, he and his family moved to Pensacola, where he retired in 1987. He was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Don was an avid golfer, loved to dance and travel, and especially cherished spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Inez and Peter Hosch; brothers, Leon and Orval Hosch and his sister, Dorothy Fitzgerald. He is survived by his sister, Belva Becker of New Albin, IA; daughters, Mary Ann (Jim) Cerney of Fairbanks, AK, Angie (Mike) Krieger of Pensacola; Linda (Sid) Smith of Sugar Land, TX; son, Joe (Debbie) Hosch of Warner Robins, GA; daughter, Jean (Brian) Sabourin of Huntsville, AL; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kristen (Cerney) Fielding, Kevin Krieger, Karla Hosch, Derrick Hosch, Heidi (Larson) DeHay and Jennifer (Sabourin) Winczewski.
Memorials may be made to The Haven-Pastoral Care, 1900 Summit Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32503.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
