Joseph William Bartley, 95, husband of Pauline Haydon Bartley, passed away Saturday May 7, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was born in Union County Dec. 16, 1915, to William Edward and Mary Beatrice Willett Bartley.

He was the manager and caretaker of St. Francis Farm and Church for years, president of St. Francis Catholic Church Finance Council and he not only helped raise his children but actively helped his wife baby-sit 33 children in the community.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Carroll (Nancy) Bartley of Owenton and Joseph (Hope) Bartley and Ronald Lee (Violetta) Bartley, both of Okeechobee, Fla.; stepdaughter Joy Hymer (Jamie) Vasser of Manassas, Va.; brothers Charles and Jimmy Bartley of Louisville; sisters Irene Semones, Louise Antinia and Trudy Logsdon, all of Louisville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 10 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Roger Hymer. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Linh Nguyen officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, with pallbearers being James Vasser, C.A. Fister, Richard Hamilton, Harold Simms, Eddie Duvall and John Carter.

Honorary bearers will be Joey Bartley, Billy Bartley, Jeremy Stacy, Ashley Johnson, Chip Fister, Christopher Fuchs and Michael Fuchs.

Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home.
