COOLEEMEE - Mickey Roy Adams, "Red," age 69, of Cooleemee, passed away Oct. 28, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 19, 1940, the son of the late Charles Henry Adams and Irene Travis Adams. Mr. Adams was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Hoechst-Celanese after 32 years. Mr. Adams also worked part-time at Twin Cedars Golf Course until 2006.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Adams.

Mickey enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He had an undeniable love for his grandchildren, and he will truly be missed.

Survivors include his wife Jerleen Basinger Adams, whom he was married to for 45 years; two sons, John (Ann) Dwiggins of Cooleemee and Thomas Adams of Salisbury; two daughters, Patricia (David) Hancock of Mocksville and Darla (Bruce) Smyers of Roaring River; brother James (Ann) Adams of Hickory; two grandsons, Russell Hancock and Joshua Smyers; and granddaughter Anna Smyers.

Service and Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at the James C. Lyerly Funeral Chapel with the Charles Hoose Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the American Legion Cemetery in Cooleemee.
