Funeral services were held 4 PM, Friday, September 11, 2015, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon and the Rev. Ed Reeves officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until the service hour at the church.
Mrs. Parrish was born March 8, 1921, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Thomas Watson and Margaret Maggie Powell Davis. She lived in the community most all of her life. She was a clerk and manager for the Ocilla 5 & 10 and was owner/operator of the Country Store in Mystic. Mrs. Parrish was a member of the Irwin County Home Demonstration Club and the Meadow Run Garden Club. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and taught the adult ladies Sunday school class for over 50 years.
She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Bill & Brenda Parrish of Abbeville, Ed & Linda Parrish of Fitzgerald and Allen & Betty Parrish of Rhine; seven grandchildren: Kay & Ronnie Thorton, Ronny & Malissa Parrish, Libby Parrish, Wally & Denise Parrish, Sheila Branch, Dwain & Courtney Parrish and Curt & Valerie Parrish; many great-grandchildren; three brothers: Eschol Davis, Strozier & Ann Davis, all of Irwinville and Ralph & Sue Davis of Owensboro, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ashley Edward Parrish; an infant daughter; a grandson: Tommy Parrish; a brother: Clarence Davis; two sisters: Omie Crowe and Leonis Tomberlin.
