Mrs. Alice F. Davenport was born on an estate in Watertown as a descendant of John Coolidge, who fell at the Battle of Lexington. She attended the Massachusetts Normal Art School and later worked as an art teacher. Miss Davenport married her cousin, Howard H. Davenport, of Cambridge, then embarked on a time of service and leadership in several civil clubs. At the time of her death, she left her husband and sons; Edward A, Howard H and Lawrence A. She also left two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Davenport and her mother died in Worcester City Hospital on October 26, 1919, after being injured in an automobile accident in Northborough. Mr. Davenport was driving his Studebaker car to New York at the time, where he was to attend the convention of the Natural Ice Association of America. He, and another passenger, survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
