David John Buikema passed away peacefully at home in Alexandria, Virginia surrounded by loving family. Born October 13, 1934, the son of Nancy Lois Schuitema and Arnold Klass Buikema in Muskegon, he is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sally Inge Buikema, and four daughters, Robin Buikema Bunting (Bud), Elizabeth Buikema Ison, (Dr. John Shrum), Susan Buikema Miller (Scott), and Dr. Kathryn Buikema (Nicolas Roueche), and special nephews, nieces and siblings, Carol Van Dop (Henry), Grand Rapids, Karl Buikema (Kathelen), Indialantic, Florida, Helen Howe (Richard) deceased, North Muskegon, Hazel Payne (Scott), Hart, Eunice Buikema, Jenison, Jeanne Thorburn (Tom), Byron Center, and Douglas Buikema (Barbara), Hudsonville.

A graduate of Western Michigan Christian School in Muskegon, David attended Strayer College and the University of Maryland. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy (Guantanamo Bay) and in the F.B.I. and was General Manager of the Industrial Equipment Division for Sharp Electronics and later National Director for PCs for Toshiba Corporation.

Condolence expressions are requested to be made in honor of David J. Buikema for advancing technologies at St. Mary's School, 400 Green Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. Arrangements are being made by The Demaine Funeral Home, Alexandria, Virginia and interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
