"Dozier Rites Set Here Wednesday
A requiem high mass for Curtis M. Dozier, 80, of 106 West Hillcrest ave., will be sun at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 8 tomorrow night at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home. He died yesterday.
He was secretary, general counsel and a director of Universal Leaf Tobacco Co., for more than 30 years.
A graduate of the University of Richmond and its T. C. Williams School of law, he was a prominent Virginia Republican, serving on the Republican National Committee from 1944 to 1952. He was a foe of the poll tax.
He worked on the Norfolk newspaper until 1910, served with the United States Treasury Department from 1910 to 1917 and was in the army during World War I.
Mr. Dozier joined Universal Leaf in 1919, retiring as secretary in 1951. He remained as counsel and director.
He was a former president of the Holy Name Society of the Cathedral, a member of the board of visitors of Benedictine High School and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 395, the Country Club of Virginia and the Commonwealth Club.
He is survived by four sons, Curtis M. Dozier, Jr. and Maurice F. Dozier, both of Richmond; Walter J. Dozier of Durham, N. C., and Msgr. Carroll T. Dozier of Norfolk, and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret D. Hotze of Richmond, and three brothers, Percy Dozier of Chicago, Allan Dozier of Ocean View and Herman C. Dozier of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dozier Keeter of Norfolk.
The family requests that donations be made to St. John Vianney Seminary, in lieu of flowers."
