Civil War Union Army Officer. A member of the prominent Landreth Family, at age 19 he served during the Civil War as Captain and commander of two Pennsylvania militia companies - first Company I of the 17th pennsylvania Militia (raised in September 1862), then Company G of the 43th Pennsylvania Emergency Troops (raised in July 1863). Neither unit was to see any combat service. After the war he became President of his family's business, the Landreth Seed Company.
