Winifred Ann Wagner Cardinal, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation.

Winnie was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Phoenix to Daniel Ray Wagner and Edna Irene Price Wagner. She grew up in Salt Lake City, where she attended elementary and junior high school and graduated from Murray High School.

She was the mother of six children: Linda, Kent, Marlene, Luanne, Scott and Carl. She lived in Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., Salt Lake City and Emmett, Idaho. Winnie worked for the Arizona Highway Department and as a waitress. She moved to Joseph City, Ariz., where she met William.

On April 15, 1971, she married William Albert Cardinal in Holbrook, Ariz. Winnie and William made Idaho Falls their home since 2009. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Feb. 26, 2015.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Winnie loved her family. She was an avid football fan and enjoyed CB radio. She loved to crochet and do cross-stitch.

Winnie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William Cardinal of Idaho Falls; children, Kent (Linda) Sundberg of Austin, Texas, Marlene (Rob) Empey of Idaho Falls, Luanne (John) Sirak of Henderson, Nev., Scott (Cheryl) Griffith of Phoenix and Carl (Cheri) Griffith of Stapleton, Ala; brother, Carl Wagner; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Mortensen; father, Daniel Wagner; mother, Edna Steiner; and her brother, Fred Wagner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Ammon LDS 4th Ward, 4375 E. Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Eric Bodily officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
