Louisa Sophia Jensen was born December 9th, 1861, at Helen, Minn., a small town in McLeod County. She was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Lepel. She was married to Carl Jensen June 3, 1881 at Helen, Minnesota. Nine children were born to them. Four children survive the parents, three girls and two boys having died. The surviving children are Anna (Mrs. Herman Podoll), August of Medicine Lake, Montana, Elizabeth (Mrs. M. Carey), and Emelia.
Mr. and Mrs. Jensen came to Wood Lake from McLeod County in 1891 and he engaged in business. He died November 9th, 1905 and Mrs. Jensen went back to McLeod and lived a year with her father. Since that time, she has lived in Wood Lake with her daughter, Mrs. Carey. Mrs. Jensen is survived by one brother and three sisters, John Lepel, Mrs. Anna Block, Mrs. Mary Gaubmann and Mrs. B. Huebner, all of Plato, Minn. She also has seven grandchildren.
On May 17, 1917, Mrs. Jensen was operated upon at a Minneapolis hospital and was much improved for two years. The Saturday before Easter this year she became worse and was again taken to the hospital but the doctors informed her that the disease had advanced to such a stage that it was incurable consequently death did not come unexpectedly. She was 57 years, 6 months and 12 days of age at the time of her demise.
The funeral was held at the Lutheran Church in Wood Lake on Tuesday afternoon at 2:15 pm, Rev. J.H. Hinck officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
