Chris Seher passed away early Sunday morning on Sept. 6, 2015 from an accidental drowning in the Long Beach Harbor.

Chris was born at St. Mary's Hospital In Reno on Sept. 29, 1968. He was almost 47 years old. Chris attended local Reno schools including Reno High School and graduated from UNR. He was a member of the SAE fraternity during college. Chris served in the Nevada Air National Guard and the California Air National Guard for a total of 27 years. He retired as a Lt. Col in 2013. He was deployed to Bahrain for Desert Storm as a crew chief. He completed pilot training in July 1994 and returned to Reno to fly the RF-4C Phantom and later the C-130 Hercules. He later transferred to the California Air National Guard at Fresno and flew the F-16 Fighting Falcon for 16 years. He flew fighter cap over the city of Los Angeles just hours after the 9/11 attacks. He also deployed several times to the Middle East to enforce the no-fly zones in Iraq. Chris was also a pilot for American Airlines for 17 years. He flew The Boeing 727 as flight engineer and as co-pilot on the Super 80, Boeing 757 and Boeing 767. At the time of his death he was in training as an American Airlines captain on the Airbus A-320. Chris enjoyed all outdoor activities including skiing, windsurfing, scuba, fishing, hunting and camping. He flew private aircraft his entire life including his custom RV-8 built by his parents. Chris's true passion was flying and contact with his many friends.

Chris is survived by his parents, Scott and Trisha Seher, his fiancee Gina Cafarelli, grandmother Madge Seher and grandfather John Paszek. Aunts and uncles include Tom (Julie) Paszek, Mary (Todd Schacht) Paszek, Janet Seher, and Beverly (Dan) Devereux. He is also survived by numerous cousins and many close and loyal friends. He is predeceased by his grandfather Clarence Seher and grandmother Patricia Paszek.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nevada Air National Guard on Sept. 26, 2015 at 11 :00 a.m. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
