Samuel Russell Lowe, 75, of Sissonville died July 6, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, after a long illness.

He was a native of Cicerone, was retired from the Operating Engineers Union Local 132. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of Cicerone Community Church.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Denny and Laura Belle Lowe; sister, Audrey Marks; and two brothers, Hubert "Pete" Lowe and Virgil "Tommy" Lowe.

He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Virginia Duff Lowe; two sons, Paul Samuel Lowe and wife, Kathy, of Sissonville, Richard David Lowe and wife, Sandra, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two granddaughters, Paula Lowe Atkinson and Laura Lynette Lowe; three grandsons, Mark Lowe, David Lowe and Kevin Lowe; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Austin, Audrey, Brittany and Theron.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Pocatalico, with the Rev. Hobert Harper and the Rev. Jonathan Harper officiating.
