Martha Sue Kraatz, 58, of Tye died Saturday, March 7, 1998 at an Abilene hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Arthur Lowe officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Ritter. Burial will be in Tye Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Kraatz was born in Coleman, TX on September 17, 1939 to the late Tom and Della West. She attended high school in Talpa. She moved to Abilene from Winters in 1969.

She married David Kraatz in Talpa on June 15, 1956. Mrs. Kraatz was a homemaker and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, of which she was president of the Altar Guild for many years. She had been a firefighter with the Tye Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, Bobby Joe Wolliard, and a half-sister, Betty Jean Wolliard.

Survivors include her husband of Tye; two sons – David Kraatz, Jr. of Odessa and Thomas Kraatz of Hampton, GA; two daughters – Susan Bergeron of Merkel and Chirre Keckler of Willows, CA; a twin sister – Lue Bowden of Winters; two half-sisters – Joan Whigham of Roanoke, TX and Tommie Holloway of Odessa; and 12 grandchildren.
