Born in Long Beach on May 25, 1958, Debbie is survived by her mother; father; two brothers; one sister; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graduate of Millikan High School, Debbie also attended Long Beach City College and CSULB, before working toward a master of science certification in Horse Therapy. She was an active Equine Body Worker and the Owner of Equine Attunement. As an instructor, she also utilized therapeutic riding in her work with handicapped children.

A talented artisan in several media, Debbie was also the Owner of Possible Impossibilities Studio.

Her early work experience spanned a variety of favorite interests: Stage Scenic Director for Millikan High School, Veterinary Assistant at Rossmoor Animal Hospital, Dog Trainer with Long Beach Parks & Recreation, volunteer with the Forest Service, as well as positions with Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and TRW.

Debbie was also the Chairman and Webmaster of the International Equine Body Worker Association (IEBWA), served on the board of the Aviculture Society, and was a member of several area bird clubs.

An avid animal lover – particularly horses – she also enjoyed gardening and garden tours, singing, numerous fun adventures at Disneyland, and was a fan of all things Halloween and Christmas.

Debbie will long be remembered for her ever-positive attitude, beautiful smile, and gentle spirit. She was a friend to everyone – both 2- and 4-legged – and made a lasting impact on those who knew and loved her. A life short, but so very well lived.

The Ha-CHA! Garden Story

Deborah Ann Adams was born May 25, 1958, in Long
Beach, CA. At a very young age, "Debbie" fell in love with all things horses and spent her life training and working with animals of all kinds. She graduated from Millikan High School and attended Long Beach City College and CSULB before pursuing a master of science certification in Horse Therapy. Debbie was an active Equine Body Worker and the owner of Equine Attunement. As an instructor, she also utilized therapeutic riding in her work with special needs children.

A talented artisan in several media, Debbie was the owner of Possible Impossibilities Studio. She also explored varied interests throughout her life, including: Stage Scenic Director at Millikan, positions with Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, Veterinary Assistant at Rossmoor Animal Hospital, Dog Trainer with Long Beach Parks & Rec, and a Forest Service volunteer. Debbie was also the Chairman and Webmaster of the International Equine Body Worker Association (IEBWA), served on the board of the Aviculture Society, and was a member of area bird clubs.

Debbie was forever uttering unique expressions. Her favorite was "Ha-CHA!" which signaled her approval of something truly excellent or well done. In 2011, Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer that metastasized to the bone. During that valiant fight, Ha-CHA! became the supportive
battle cry of friends and family. She passed away with family by her side on July 5, 2014. Debbie will long be remembered for her ever-positive attitude, beautiful smile, and gentle spirit. She was a friend to everyone – both 2- and 4-legged – and made a lasting impact on those who knew and loved her.

Her legacy lives on through the creation of the Deborah Adams Ha-CHA! Memory Garden here at TRC. Family and friends wanted to honor her memory by creating a serene garden area with enhanced seating near the arena. It is hoped that this garden will be both a lasting tribute to her love of horses and commitment to therapeutic riding, as well as a celebration of the positive impact TRC has on families here each week. The garden cart on which you sit (Debbie called it her "Inspiration Bench") was part of her home outdoor art studio. Note the sundial's inscription, which perfectly embodies Debbie's positive spirit, and is symbolic of her final resting place at the Westminster Memorial Park Ossuary. The hitching post ties to her love of antiques and horses, while the various landscape elements were carefully selected to reflect her style. Please enjoy the garden, pause for reflection, and enjoy your time here at this special place.

As part of this garden project, memorial medals will also be awarded annually to those who complete the Ha-CHA! riding program. Building onto TRC's already positive programming, students will help carry Debbie's favorite expression forward through their own Ha-CHA! moments and will receive a medal to end the semester for excellence in riding.
