Transcription of Obituary from "The Enterprise", Huntington, AR, 7-23-1914:
John Andrew Finney Dead

The end came to all that was mortal of our fellow townsman, J.A. Finney, Saturday morning, July 18th. His decease was not unexpected for he had been on the margin for several days. His relatives thought every day would be the last.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon by Eld. H.E. Marsh, assisted by Eld. M.L.Voyles, after which the orders to which he belonged took charge, the I.O.O.F. and Jr. O.U.A.M., and held the obsequies when the body was interred in the city cemetery.

The deceased was born in Ravenswood, Va., August 23, 1848, converted 1856, joined the Baptist church December 15, 1866, ordained a deacon 1889, consistent member of the following churches: Antiquity, O., 1873; Shawnee, O., 1881; Huntington, Ark., 1788 [sic]. Mr Finney was married December 15, 1867 to Matilda E. Woodward, came to Huntington August 25, 1887. Leaves widow and seven children who mourn his going.

Brother Finney was a good man and a substantial citizen, always on the right side of all moral questions. He will be sadly missed by the citizens of Huntington. The ENTERPRISE extends sincere condolence."
