Althea Sellman, daughter of Thomas Sellman and Ruth (Shipley) Sellman, was born in 1776 in Baltimore, Anne Arundel County, Maryland and died about 1808 in Ohio County, West Virginia, about age 32. George married Althea on 24 Dec 1792 in Ohio County, West Virginia


Thomas Sellman is beleived to be the son of William and Ann (West) Sellman. Ruth (Shipley) Sellman is beleived to be the daughter of Adam and Ruth (Tevis) Shipley

Thomas Sellman took the Oaths of Fidelity and Support in Baltimore on February 28, 1778. Shortly after this he moved west. He "acquired lands in Ohio (now Brooke) County, Virginia (now West Virginia), on the waters of Buffalo Creek, about ten miles from the Ohio River......He was accompanied by his wife Ruth, his younger son Adam, his two unmarried daughters, Catherine and Althea and several slaves."
