Son of Isaac Carmack(1816-1862) and Comfort Hale(1816-1865). Jacob and father were members of Confederate 19th Tennessee Infantry, Co I. His father, Isaac died in Battle of Mill Springs (Somerset,Ky)Jan 19,1862. Jacob married Elizabeth Chadwell(1837-1923). BOTH Jacob and Elizabeth, ALONG with their dau Isabell Carmack Spicer(1877-1898), lie in RED HILL CEMETERY near Brassfield and Panola, Ky. This rural area lies south of Bybee, Ky. between Richmond and Irvine. Jacob was an elder of Drowning Creek Baptist Church (now Panola Baptist Church)when he died in 1900. One of his daughters, Susan Jane (Sookie)Carmack, married a William Spicer(1864-1922)and the Spicer clan is strongly represented in Estill and nearby counties.
