Daughter of Aaron Stone and Susannah ?

Married Alfred Briant in 1831. Mother of 10 children.

MARY "POLLY" (STONE) BRYANT - The Democrat during the past few weeks has chronicled the demise of a number of the best women of Huntingdon, all of them noble Christian mothers who have reared families of children and passed away at a ripe old age. This week another is added to the list. Mrs. Polly Briant, wife of Alfred Briant, died at her home in Huntingdon of congestion, on last Friday. She had been sick only a short time, and was in a dangerous condition but a few days. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Saturday evening by Rev. W. J. McCoy, and were largely attended, after which the remains were interred in Clark's Cemetery. Mrs. Polly Briant, nee Stone, was born in Spartanburg County, S. C., October 15, 1810. She was married to Alfred Briant, Jan. 18, 1831, and in December 1833, they removed to Tennessee, coming to Huntingdon in 1858, where they have since resided. By this marriage, there were born ten children, seven of whom are living, all of them honored and highly respected by the community in which they reside. The deceased was a devoted Christian, having been a zealous member of the Methodist Church since 1845. By her noble life and loving disposition, she has endeared herself to the entire community, and all mourn her death. Yet there is a blessed consolation in the thought that she lived to a ripe old age, and now is happy around the throne of Him, of Whose glories she has so often spoken. It has been said, and is truly appropriate in this instance.
