On September 8, 1803, Johannes Rischstein , his wife Louise, and their children Catharina Elizabeth, Johannes Jacob, Johannes Jost, Christiana,and Johannes arrived at the Port of Philadelphia, as new immigrants to America. They had traveled in the Sailing Ship "Fortune" which had sailed from Hamburg, Germany.
Some years later, the surname "Rischstein" was anglicized to "Ristine".
On December 31, 1812, Jacob married Catherine Fredricks. Catherine had also been born in Germany. Jacob and Catherine raised twelve children; six boys and six girls. Their children are listed below in order of their birth:

Based on U.S. Census Information, Jacob was employed as a laborer from 1820 through 1850. In July 1850, Jacob (Age 55), his wife Catherine (Age 53) and their son Jacob (Age 23), daughter Christiana (Age 15) and son George (Age 10) lived in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
The 1860 U.S. Census, indicated that Jacob worked on a farm, and lived with his wife Catherine, and the other family members remaining at home in Lower Merion Township, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Catherine died later in 1860.
In 1870, Jacob was still living in the Ristine Lower Merion home (but no longer working) with his son-in-law Thomas Holland (Shown as Head of Family), and daughter Catherine Fredericks Holland.
