Kenneth Neal Baker, 72, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Wesley Towers Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 9, 1941, in Hutchinson, the son of Ralph Charles and Jean Partington Baker.

A longtime resident of Sterling, he was a 1959 graduate of Sterling High School, and attended Sterling College. Moving to Hutchinson in 1965, he worked for Eaton Corp. for 36 years, retiring as department foreman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

On Sept. 19, 1964, he married Patricia "Pat" Laudick in Lyons, Kan. She survives along with two sons, Kenneth A. (Marylynn) Baker of Hutchinson, and Kevin (Kun Lu) Baker of Berkeley, Calif.; daughter, Karen (Tim) O'Keefe of Denver, Colo.; and grandson, Alex Baker of Evanston, Ill.

Also surviving is his mother, Jean Baker of Sterling; brother, Carl (Rhonda) Baker of Hutchinson, and sister, Ann (Phil) Short of Burrton. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph C. Baker.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
