Everett L. and Lavina C. Israel--1908 and 1904 to 2006
Everett L. Israel, 97, died Monday, July 17, 2006, and his wife Lavina C. Redmond Israel, 102, died Thursday, July 20, 2006. Everett was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Wathena to Edward and Georgia Hughes Israel. Lavina was born July 9, 1904, in Wathena to William and Elizabeth Engeman Redmond.
Everett and Lavina married on Sept. 7, 1929, in Savannah, Mo., and they were lifelong resident of Doniphan County. The Israel's lived in the Mount Airy School District from 1945 until 1974.
Everett was a farmer, stockman, Pioneer Seed salesman, and did custom farming. He loved playing baseball and played on many Doniphan County teams for 20 years.
Lavina worked for the Meidinger brothers and the Wathena Apple Growers Association for 20 years. She was baptized in Smith Creek north of Wathena and is a member of the Zion United Evangelical Church.
Both were preceded in death by their parents and an infant daughter Donna Kay Israel. They also was preceded in death by Everett's three sisters: Gertrude Boeh, Marie and Leonora Israel; four brothers: Emmett, Trim, William and Judson; and Lavina's three brothers: William, Jr., Harry and Joseph Redmond; three sisters: Clara Vertin, Mary Schuman and Anna Goatcher.
