Son of John Alexander Wasson & Eliza Bush Copeland. He was a "local" methodist preacher and helped organize Methodist Churches at Marvin Chapel and Shady Grove in Attala Co, MS. At the time of his death he was a tanner and owned & operated a Saw Mill & Gin on Zylpher Creek about one mile north of Shady Grove Church. He married Mary Jane Ratliff on September 7, 1865. They had eight children.
