BROWN, LORENA A. (JANIS) age 69, of Cranston, passed away on September 2, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Providence, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Nantais) Janis, she leaves her husband of 32 years, Robert; her brother: Jim Janis (Emma); her daughters: Lorena Dodge (Stuart) & Holly Huval (Joel); her son: Tim; as well as her grandchildren: Stefanie, Christopher, Lauren and Kara. She was the former wife of the late Manuel Rezendes. A lifelong Episcopalian, Lorena attended church at St. David's on-the-Hill in Cranston, and was involved in many church activities and committees. She was a past Senior Warden, Clerk and Vestry Member, sang in the choir for many years, as well as worked on the bazaar and other outreach projects. Most recently she and her husband have worked with the ministry of feeding the homeless through the church's joint ministry called Mobile Loaves and Fishes. Lorena's career in banking was over 30 years long. She worked for over 25 years at Citizens Bank and held various positions there, retiring in 2008. In addition to church activities, she was a member of the R.I. Society of Mayflower Descendants and a long-time board member of the Pocasset Cemetery. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, needle-crafting and singing in various community choral groups, most recently the Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus. Calling hours will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Friday, September 4 from 4 to 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held at St. David's on-the-Hill Church, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston on Saturday morning at 10. Burial will follow at North Burial Ground, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mobile Loaves and Fishes project through St David's on-the-Hill
