He is survived by his brother: Clair Dodson married to Mary (Mellott), Hopewell, PA and sister: Delores Wright, Woodbury, PA as well numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell’s daughters acknowledge his special friend, Faye Kyle and her daughters: Amie, Lana, Lisa and their spouses and children as part of the family.
Along with his daughter he is preceded in death by brothers: Lewis and Veryl Dodson.
He was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School Class of 1957.
During his life he served in the United States Coast Guard and then became a partner in business with his brothers at Dodson Brothers Lumber Company.
He was member of the Sherman’s Valley Brethren In Christ Church.
Darrell enjoyed playing music with his buddies, he loved traveling and upon retiring from Dodson Brothers Saw Mill, he worked part time as a bus driver for Bollman’s Charter Service. He served on the First National Bank Board of Directors, Everett, and he along with other local business leaders were instrumental in the startup of Hometown Bank, where he was currently serving as a director on the board. He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524.
Darrell will be sorely missed by his family and friends, he was a best buddy to many.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman’s Valley Brethren In Christ Church with Pastors Rick and Sharon Riley officiating.
Friends may call at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.
Burial will be held in Sherman’s Valley Cemetery.
