James, of Bolton, NC, died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born the son of Edna Wilkins and the late John Hampton Wilkins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Wilkins. Surviving in addition to his mother is his grandmother, Mildred Acrey of Wilmington; an uncle, J.W. Wilkins of Whiteville.
