Bengt Johan and Anna Greta had 9 children (7 boys and 2 girls): Henning Albin, Nils Fritiof, Sven Robert, Ada Beata, Karl Johan, Karl August, Anders Johan, Gustav Severin and Ida Kristine.
Carl immigrated to the United States through New York on March 4, 1906 on the vessel Carmania. He eventually settled in Brawley, Imperial, California. Here he married Verna Daisy May (Steen) Davenport on May 26, 1923. After a few years they moved to Tacna, Yuma, Arizona where they were farmers. Sometime in the 1940's they moved to El Cajon near San Diego. Carl and Daisy never had any children together.
While Carl was born with the last name of Nilsson, it appears he and two of his brothers (Sven and Nils) changed their last name when they immigrated to the United States and South Africa. They chose the name Benson which is the English version of Bengtsson, Bengt's son.
Note: Special thanks to B. Andersson for the information about Carl and his family.
