1938 - 2015 | Obituary

Ronald Dee Phillips, 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family August 29, 2015. He was born July 31, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho. His family later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated from West High School. He has lived in the Kansas City area for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ron loved his Heavenly Father and the gospel. He worked to become a true disciple of Christ and will be remembered for his willingness to help and serve others. He was known for his smile and cheerful spirit, his passion for his family and his work. Ron owned and operated several businesses including Legal Shield, Rodee Printing and Action Fireplace and Gas Service. He was fondly known as the "Fireplace Man" because of the burning fire in his van as he traveled throughout the city. Preceding him in death are his parents, Heber and Effie Phillips, his brother, Richard Phillips, his first wife, Andrea VanSijen-Phillips, and two grandchildren. Ron is survived by his wife, Anne Phillips, his brother, Donald (Mary) Phillips, Salt Lake City, and his nine children: Kathryn (Jerome) Hernandez, Jenyfer (Bradley) Simmerman, Ronald (Melissa) Phillips, Mitchell (Michele) Phillips, Nancy (Thomas) Wallace, Jonathan (Heather) Phillips, Daniel Chapman, Julie (Brandon) Lawson, and Sarah Aldridge. He also leaves 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, many friends and family. He was much loved as a father and husband. Services will be Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, 8616 Haskell Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation begins at 10:00am, Services at 11:00am.
