Eskil Floyd Porter (1928-2006)

Our Dad, Grandpa and brother, Eskil Floyd Porter, 78, passed away on July 1, 2006, at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan. He was born on March 16, 1928, in Mapleton, Idaho, to George Riley and Laverna Carter Wanner Porter. He graduated from high school in 1946 and attended USU for several years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 and received an honorable discharge. He married his sweetheart, Ramona Elaine Anderson on June 4, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. He worked at Cache Valley Dairy for many years and retired in 1993. They lived in Lewiston for many years and then later moved to Smithfield. He was an avid sports fan. He loved following USU football and basketball, the Utah Jazz and he rarely missed watching an Atlanta Braves baseball game on TV. He provided well for his family and taught the value of hard work and punctuality.

He is survived by his children, Rochelle Owen, Sondra (Bill) Spicker, Kelly (Sharon) Porter, and Sheila (Jeff) Sagers; brothers, Tharol (Mae), Rey (Karen), Mark (Barbara), Rhoud (Sue), Marlin (Joni); sisters, Coradean (Cueto) Anderson, Ivalue Johnson, Saramae (Henry) Jensen, Georgia (Richard) Baker, Joen (Kent) May, and Seles (Vere) Price; sisters-in-law, Delores and Joanne; mother-in-law, Dora Anderson; a brother-in-law, Steve (Loila) Anderson; a sister-in-law, Marie (Garry) Carter; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Ryan (Marcela), Tyson (Mindy), Amanda, Stephen, Ashley and Holly; as well as great-grandchildren, Annie, Camila, Kevin, and Thomas Tyson Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his father-in-law, Jack Anderson; a daughter, Drenda; brothers, Ira, Arlo, and Lanny; a brother-in-law, Mervin Johnson; and by sisters-in-law, Sadie Porter and Sue Porter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, at 11 a.m. in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State, Preston, Idaho. Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the stake center. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements are by Webb Funeral Home.
