Born in Oswego Center on July 26th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lucy (Scott) Laurent.
Dorothy was a member of the Oswego Center United Methodist Church for 73 years and a member of the Oswego Center United Methodist Women’s Society, Chairperson of the Oswego Center United Methodist Church finance committee, Oswego County Women’s Club, Women’s International Bowling Congress for 60 years, and presently bowling in Fulton Lakeview lanes, she also taught Sunday school at the church.
She worked at Oswego County Savings Bank and was a former secretary to Oswego County Republican Committee.
Recently she received the Leity Award for radical hospitality through the Oswego Center United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Jayne M. Arden Springmeir of Oak Ridge, TN and Lorrie E. Arden Sebold of Charlotte, NC; a son, Robert E. Arden of Oswego; a brother, Glenn Laurent of PA; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Arden in 1997 and a brother, Walter (Popeye) Laurent in 1995.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Oswego Center United Methodist Church. Family will also have an hour of calling from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Scriba.
Calling hours will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
